Technorati - searched for Exact Phrase & blogs about...301 postings; 20 actual blogs
Use the Tagging search feature and retrieved 26 blogs
"free knitting patterns" is my non-library/non-academic search
Blogscope - don't care for this one too much for "virtual reference" but good results for "free knitting patterns"
Sphere - 70 blog posts in the last 24 hours about virtual reference - yikes. "Related" feature not working for this topic...

I liked Technorati's search features the best.
